Jace and Paul met through their shared commitment to uplifting Indigenous Peoples.

They first learned from one another at Indigenomics 2019 in Vancouver, and deepened their connection as friends at SOCAP in San Francisco.

When Jace moved to Victoria, Paul slid into her DMs—three times, to be exact.

By the third try, Jace was ready. A Moose Hide Campaign workshop led by Sage lit the spark—
and with a gentle nudge from her Grandma in the spirit world, Jace went for it.

On their very first date, they were asked three times if they were on their honeymoon.

Their children sat in the centre of all of their choices. Having the opportunity to teach Charlie how love grows, they approached their relationship with slow wide curves, starting in friendship, companionship, roommates, then lovers.

By Summer 2023, Charlie told Jace that they had everything they needed for a whole and happy life, and Charlie bought Paul a mood ring so that they could be married.

By Winter Solstice 2023, under the watchful love of their ancestors and rose petals from wall to wall, Paul proposed in their living room.

And when he popped the question, the Christmas tree lights went out—because even the magic needed a moment to catch its breath.

It’s been a groovy, magical love ever since!
